It's ok to not be ok !

The aim of Mimi’s hair campaign is to raise awareness about different illnesses that people within our society are currently battling with. The featured contains models that have been covered in body paint. Each model has been labelled with different words that are often associated and linked to these illnesses.
The women in this video are not only promoting beauty and hair extensions but they are also empowering others. They aim is to promote liberation and to let it be known that there is no clothes, colour or shape for any illness.

In this video MS Banks talks about mental health illness and how it is often viewed by others. Mental health illness is a sickness that is often not looked upon or looked down at hence why so many people suffer in silence. Therefore,it’s important to understand what mental illness is so we as people do not stigmatize others. Without knowledge it is easy to pass judgement.

Mimi’s hair aims to promote that yes it is ok not to be ok and yes it is ok to suffer with mental health but it is not ok to stigmatise or disregard mental health because it is not a physical illness.
Stigma is one major aspect that affects people that are living with illnesses. Many people are going through different situations in life without having anyone to talk to or being ashamed to raise their voice to other of how they are feeling.
Mental health comes in many forms such; depression, psychosis, eating disorders and body dysmorphia. There are many factors which contribute to mental health one example is stress and can result in the individual suffering from depression or anxiety.

Mental illness can affect anyone it can also be inherited. However, the aim of this campaign is to encourage young people to speak up and seek help. Not be to be afraid or be isolated.
Vitiligo a skin condition that affects all races although, it is more noticeable on dark-skinned people. Vitiligo is caused by a loss of pigment in the skin due to destruction of pigment-forming cells known as melanocytes.

It shows on your skin and it’s questioned and many people don’t know that the skin condition is called vitiligo. Many individuals have different things that they need to bypass in life and with visual skin pigmentation it can often be hard, especially as a young child.

What we need to do as adults is to express this in society so that we can walk pass individuals without staring and pointing. Young people need to be encouraged to love themselves with or without health conditions.
HIV is spread primarily through unprotected sexual intercourse, contaminated blood transfusion, needles and from mother to child. Bodily fluids such as saliva and tears do not transmit HIV.
HIV is one of the most the stigmatized illnesses within society. Many individuals live life struggling to face there situations and or find it hard opening up to people at about it. However, an illness doesn’t define an individual you can still live a healthy normal life whereby you are not isolated or left feeling alone.

Mimi’s hair promotes not only hair but beauty, quality and empowerment of women all over the world.
